Precise and creeping, Sigils' nocturnal productions combine dense meditative electro-acoustic processing, sub bass frequencies, with expressionist sci-fi textures. Appropriately borne out of Los Angeles, many of the sounds heard on Sigil's Transverse EP intersect at the cinematic suspense of a grim, technoid vision of the future from the 80s with Warp Records' fascination in the 90s of pushing the boundaries of shoegaze into pastoral glitch and beyond.
Informed by contemporary landscape of electronic music and avant-garde classical composers, the LA-based Sigils (aka Felix Herrera) integrates his signature atmospheres with crisp carefully-created synthetic drums and treated guitars looping into the ether to abstract structures reminiscent of blown hip-hop instrumentals, classic dubstep/grime, and IDM's skittering beats.
"Sigils, Transverse, analogical processed glyphs and magic square-pushing from LA; explores the signals from the archaic, the magical, with the mystery of the occult in his music."
- Impose Magazine
"The musical approach of Los Angeles resident Sigils has hit us really hard this year, flowing with a hypnotic beauty in psychedelic electronica that says a lot about his influences and techniques."
- Sound Colour Vibration
"Sigils maintains stillness in electronic music; sounding like the soundtrack to a space voyage."
